What to expect going forward!

I competed in the Brackeys Game Jam 2023.2 and created Caroline's Basement. This project was with the help of Bread the artist behind the project who also helped with the lore and Breadislebaby the musician behind the background music and made the sound effects repurposed in this project, I couldn't make this game alone. 

Retrospective

We were taken aback from the feedback from the community and their support. We were so surprised because this is our first game jam and for the game to be so well received is quite cool. Overall we placed 66th out of 900+ entrants, That's insane for our first attempt, we can only hope the quality of our games and attempts at game jams stay at this level. 

Moving Forward

We really liked the idea for the game and we had so many ideas we could've had in but couldn't due to the time constraints of a jam, there was also feedback from the game such as improving sound design and fixing some bugs that were left in. The most common piece of feedback I received was a lack of content which we expected to be fair the time constraints meant we were either going to have to make a longer full but less polished experience or short and sweet polished experience and we decided the latter. 

So what do we do planning to move forward? Well we plan on releasing a full version to address the lack of content and have it be even more polished removing all of the bugs. This game will have multiple different houses to clean up (not just basements) and different stories to explore! We are in very early stages of this game but hope to finish it in around the summer July/August, It will also be called something different than Caroline's Basement as it has more to do with just her.
