Patch 1.5 - Enemies Update (Steam Only)

In this patch I wanted to fix a problem Obgob has had since its incarnation. It’s enemies…

The way Obgob has treated enemies up until now was to allow units the player could buy also who the player fought. For both story and balance reasons this was not a really effective solution and I had been meaning to change this for a while. Balancing wise a good example is if I wanted to buff a unit for the player it would also buff that unit for the enemy and vice versa leading to difficulties when I would want to increase the difficulty by a magnitude. I could add items to the unit or just give them bonus stats but that is a very band-aid solution to an ongoing problem. In this patch I decided to focus on individualizing the enemies and even creating unique ones for the elites! I also expect this will make a difficulty/ascension mode easier as I can slowly add modifiers such as items instead of forcing them as a balance choice.

Another thing this update does is simplify the game. Having to worry about the items your enemy has as well as your own was a bit too much especially for a new player, so now I can relegate items as a difficulty stage instead of it being on the base difficulty!

I also did a bunch of miscellaneous bug fixes and balance, I increased all units AD by around 33% so fights go by a bit faster, and balanced some items.

Another cool thing I added was some new items! Players often complained about lack of antiheal so I added/modified some items to support that. I also added an alternative to reaping scythe for armor reduction. And an AP alternative to healing to allow AP units to upkeep their tank!

The content in this playtest is about what I want for my demo, so I am going to try my best to get as much feedback for it as possible and so most of the next few things will be focused on polishing up this version of the game. The next few updates are character focused but since they are more for the full game release I don't think I’ll be adding them to the steam playtest version and will likely have a beta test version of the game for feedback on that down the line.

Patch Notes:

- Added 15 enemies you can encounter

       - 12 normal (4 new ones each layer)

        -3 elites

 - Added 4 new items (8 if you consider their unshackled versions)

-Also made some unshackled versions more unique to incentivize experimentation more than just stat bonuses.

- Fixed miscellaneous bugs.
