The Goblin Cave v0.7 - Feature Complete
Hello Everyone! It's been a long time :X
I am Anheiy and I've been working on a game called "goblin cave" an autochess roguelike for a bit over a year now!
For anyone who has been following the game and wondered "what happened to it" I want to give some transparency on that.
A lot of stuff has happened in my life and I wanted to distance myself from game dev and specifically this game because I reasonably could not work on this game with where my head was at. Sometimes life really does hit you and you have to stop, reassess, and make choices you don't want to make. Either way I decided I was going to take a 4 month break to really let myself experience new things while also focusing on my education. After the semester was over I felt recovered enough to work on it again and it was really fun! One thing I've learned as a game dev is breaks matter so much to your own enjoyment of the project as well as keeping your mind clear. I think the quote "Game Dev is a marathon not a sprint" is a good way to describe what I mean. You lose touch with what makes your game fun when you cant find the joy with it because you're working on it 24/7 but breaks help you recover from that! While writing this I wonder am I oversharing? Yet I believe no one really reads these so I should not worry if I am providing more information than asked for XD.
I have been working on this game again since 4 months ago, I've focused on building the game to a fun feature complete version of the game where all I have left is to polish said features but more importantly add content. For my past players, SO MUCH has been changed a lot of characters got ability reworks, artifact system (TFT AUGMENTS), upgradable items, new health system, boss system (current ones are placeholder and really bad tbh cause I need to figure out how to make them cool), and a lot more I forgot! I have been testing it with some friends on a private itch page but I wanted to put it out publicly because this page gets a good amount of traffic and I rather people have their perspective of the game be this one! Honestly taking that break was great, I learned so much about my self and life is going amazing for me right now.
To future me and the others reading this: Life WILL SUCK at points, however it will get better! You have to be willing to get better though!
